Engage and Fundraise using Social Media
Summary
Hosted by Stephen Follows (Catsnake: The Story Agency) and Clare Sweeney (Keepace Consultancy), in our second Hospice Roundtable we focused on using social media to engage audiences and boost support for hospices.
Joining our hosts on the panel to share their experience and advice were:
Jack Whittington, Content & Social Media Officer at Acorns Children’s Hospice - Jack spoke about creating organic social media content, and gave us an insight into how he shares stories from Acorns' hospices and the families they support in an authentic way. He highlighted the importance of understanding your audience and creating content that emotionally resonates with them, and shared how this can help in building and maintaining long-term relationships with supporters.
Kieran Draper, Head of Communications at Hospice in the Weald - Drawing on 9 years of experience at Hospice in the Weald, Kieran shared some of the social media and communication strategies his hospice has used to engage their online audience. In particular, he discussed how they’ve leveraged micro-influencers to engage their community, increase event participation, and boost fundraising. He also spoke about how they approach different social media platforms and the growing potential of short-form video content.
